![]() That said I also really enjoy Avadon despite its flaws. I really love the work of Jeff but this engine is still my favourite and I vastly prefer it over the new one in the Avadon series and the Avernum remakes. Long story short, I came to really love this older engine so much that I got the series again on gog just to be able to play Avernum 1-3 in this engine even though the remake of Avernum 1 was already out at that time. Decided to again tough it out and play at least the first dungeon and before I was finished with said dungeon, I got the hang of the controls/UI etc. Spent almost an hour in the starting town till I got out and was about to give it up again. I then decided to tough it out and play it for myself to see the roman side of things. By 'accident' I stumbled upon a let's play by bormac on Nethergate and got really intrigued by the story. ![]() Started playing this and thought 'omg what an awful engine' and stopped playing Nethergate in favour of Geneforge, which for me was a billion times better at the time. I got the Spiderweb games on a sale for quite cheap and thought I'd start with the oldest game. maybe i will try to take a look on it later or so.ĭon't know if you've gotten back and tried it again, but here are my two cents. anyway, i dont really like this game, people might like this but i really prefer the other spiderweb games. i stopped playing after i left the first city, since it takes me too long just to find the quest giver^^ the controles are also more old school like, but in a strange way. well, i see that every spiderweb game is kinda familliar, this one is very odd in a way i dont like it. does it get any better? its also kinda bad that you cant see everything where you already have moved, like in geneforge or baldurs gate, where you usually tryed to discover the whole map before you move on, but since the screen is tiny, there is no record where you had been and the movement system. ![]() the problem is kinda that the game is very confusing and interestening at the beginning, what keeps you playing, but the screen is too tiny, you move only in squares(like you would in a turn based chess board like rpg) but that in real time. ![]() I dont know, as far as i see, is this not as good as geneforge or avernum. ![]()
